Sponge-Jet Recycler Unit
Image of Sponge-Jet Media RecyclerBlasted media is collected and processed through either an electrically or pneumatically powered Recycler, which separates Sponge Media into three categories: oversized debris, reusable media, and fines (consisting of spent media and dust). Typically, between 60% and 90% of Sponge Media is reusable after each blast cycle.
Sponge-Jet Feed Units
Image Showing Sponge-Jet 400hp Feed UnitSponge-Jet Feed Units deliver Sponge Media to the surface. Sponge-Jet design and manufacture Feed Units to meet the specific flow characteristics of Sponge Media. An actuator inside the blast pot stirs the Sponge Media to keep it flowing, while an auger at the base of the unit controls the amount of media fed into the air stream. A pneumatic control panel provides precise adjustment of blast pressure and media feed rate.
Sponge-Jet Media
The heart of the Sponge-Jet technology is its media – Sponge Media™. A composite of urethane sponge and a cleaning (or abrasive) agent, this patented technology utilizes the pliable, open-celled characteristics of urethane sponge and the cleaning and cutting power of a cleaning agent or conventional abrasive.

Diagram of Sponge-Jet Media upon ImpactThe pliant nature of Sponge Media allows it to flatten on impact (fig. 1), exposing the cleaning agent or abrasive. After leaving the surface, then it constricts, (fig. 2) entrapping most of what would normally have become airborne contaminants. Sponge-Jet refers to this bundle of value-added qualities as Sponge Media’s MICROCONTAINMENT™ feature. Sponge-Jet’s Sponge Blasting™ System consists of the Sponge-Jet Feed Unit™, Media Classifier,™ and a variety of different Sponge Media abrasives designed to offer dry, low dust, low rebound, reusable abrasive blasting. Sponge-Jet Feed Units deliver Sponge Media abrasives to the surface with air pressure. Feed Units are designed to meet the specific flow characteristics of Sponge Media. A pneumatic control panel provides precise adjustment of blast pressure and media feed rate. Sponge-Jet Media Classifiers clean media for recycling. Blasted media is collected and processed through either electric or pneumatic classifiers, which separate the Sponge Media abrasives into three categories: oversized debris, reusable media, and fines (consisting of spent media and dust). Up to 94% of Sponge Media abrasives are reusable after each blast cycle.
